Boston sport

Celtics

Fortunately Boston is home to the best sport teams in America, many refer to Boston as ‘titletown’ because of the vast number of championships. So, of course when you move to Massachusetts and you can see the city skyline from the top of the hill you live on, its only natural to want to be in the thick of it when it comes to sports, and be a die hard Boston sport fans - especially the Patriots - In my case Tom Brady.

When we moved here, we were child free and newlyweds so our evenings were free ALL THE TIME. I also wasn’t working for the first year, so I was eager to get out into society. One of the first sports we decided to attend was the Boston Celtics, purely because at the time Patriots weren’t playing and the Celtics tickets can be as cheap as $22 although, can be as expensive as $500+. The atmosphere was AMAZING, never seen anything like it. The fans were loud, the music was louder, the basketball just kept going. It was all fast paced and exciting. Mind you, the prices at TD Garden is absolutely daylight robbery and that’s not even including the tips! Safe to say we went back a number of times!

The Pats

It was 2019, Tom Brady was still the quarterback for the New England Patriots (it was actually his last game but no one knew), they were in the playoffs against Tennessee. Look at the pictures guys, just look. It was WET, FREEZING, FOGGY as hell but it was INCREDIBLE! The weather was absolutely horrendous, I was wearing like 5 layers because it was incredibly cold, the rain felt like ice and the fog you see at the top of the stadium - well that ended up at the bottom and you couldn’t see a thing. You know what though, it was totally worth it. It was our first Patriots game, it was the playoffs and it was Tom Brady’s last game. It was worth every penny.

The Bruins

They were the first American team to join the NHL and had won the Stanley cup 6 times, so it was only fitting to also want to secure a seat to watch the Bruins. I had never followed Ice hockey, the only thing that came close was my junior school sports day playing hockey, that was on grass and we used a ball and not a puck - that counts though right?

I wasn’t sure how cold it would be in TD Garden, so I wrapped up like it was winter. I’m not going to lie, I don’t know the rules, I couldn’t see the puck most of the time or had any clue what was happening, but I go again. This is where we realised the sport chants for American sport was all the same. ‘Lets go Bruins, lets go’. - It’s kinda weird but I guess I’m used to European sport, and the British sport chants in football. The atmosphere was the same as the Celtics, the music was loud but this time the fans were louder - I particularly think Bruins fans are the most passionate of the fans in New England sport.

Red Sox

I have seen the Redsox play, and again I have never followed baseball - to me I think its similar to rounders. Which I used to love playing in P.E at school. My husband says it isn’t the same, but I don’t feel wrong. I still think its rounders. Anyway, we saw them and it was postponed a couple of hours because of the rain, then it got really hot so it didn't end up being that bad. To be honest, I cannot recall how the game was or who even played, I just really liked the weather. the atmosphere and there was more than ‘lets go, (name), lets go’.

When my cousin was visiting Massachusetts we did a tour of Fenway Park, we had never done it before, so thought why not! I know my husband was keen to go. Unfortunately, I don’t have any photos of me at the game, but I do have a couple of the tour at Fenway.
